Environmental superstars! I’m down in the Limestone Coast region this week and today I had the opportunity to visit Tenison Woods College Mount Gambier and talk with one of its students Dusty, Principal David Mezinec and staff about their “Project Recology” program.
This program is teaching students about the circular economy, recycling plastics, making their own compost out of food waste from the school (!), and coming up with ways to reduce the waste they are sending to landfill. They also recycle 10 tonnes of food waste per year! This is a great program for students to help understand what role they can play in reducing waste.
