Call for a Royal Commission into civil nuclear energy generation

South Australia has some of the highest electricity prices in the world. Countries right around the world are creating affordable, reliable and clean electricity from nuclear energy but the Malinauskas Labor Government isn’t even willing to have the nuclear conversation.

With AUKUS nuclear submarines set to be built in Adelaide, it just makes sense to consider civil nuclear energy generation here.

If elected in 2026, the South Australian Liberal Party is committed to establishing a Royal Commission into the potential for civil nuclear energy generation in South Australia, so that we can make informed decisions about the future of energy in our state, and create a long-term plan to make electricity more affordable and reliable for all South Australians.
