Many South Australians will soon have to pay more to see their GP, thanks to a tax grab that will kick in next month.
In the midst of record ambulance ramping and a cost of living crisis, we should be making it easier for South Australians to see their GP, not harder. Physicians have warned that Labor’s tax grab will be a barrier for prevention of illness and force far more people into our already crowded EDs. Some estimate that 20-30% of GP practices could close too, and that those that do remain open will likely be forced to pass on additional costs to patients.
If elected in 2026, the South Australian Liberal Party will axe Labor’s tax grab on doctors as part of our plan to ease pressure on our health system.
