Threatened Species Day

Did you know that South Australia has more than 1000 species considered threatened at a state level? That's 828 plants and 324 animals, with 200 of these also threatened nationally.

As Environment Minister, it’s my job to do what I can to preserve and grow these fragile populations.

Sometimes this is an uphill battle, but with initiatives such as the Adelaide International Bird Sanctuary, the creation of Glenthorne National Park, the Great Southern Ark rewilding strategy, and the historically successful Bounceback initiative, we are having success stories.

Today is Threatened Species Day- I encourage you to find out more about some of the lesser known species, and see if you can do something to help in your area!
