The dramatic stop to the recycling of soft plastics in Australia earlier this year shocked many of us. It was a huge blow to the efforts we go to in making sure we sort our waste and dispose of things responsibly. This week, Heidi Girolamo, Shadow Minister for the Circular Economy, passed a Liberal Party motion in the Parliament to establish a Select Committee into the recycling of soft plastics in South Australia. This is one step closer to being able to get back on track with diverting soft plastic from landfill, keeping it out of our environment and finding ways to create an economic benefit for our state.
