Safety on our public transport

Last month Michael and his teenage daughter were attacked by a group of youths on the Seaford train on their way to the footy. This was another incident in what has become a disturbing pattern on our trains and trams. ⁣⁣

The Liberal Party has been calling for sustained action by the government to give people confidence that our public transport system is safe and today we finally got action with a focused weeklong blitz on train and tram safety announced by the government and beginning today. ⁣

While it won’t turn back the clock for Michael and his daughter, we welcome the government listening to our pleas. I’m a long term advocate for using and investing in public transport, but this is only worth doing if South Australians have peace of mind to use it.
