Learning about dementia

Dementia is the umbrella term for over 100 neurological conditions which relate to a decline in brain function. It can affect people of all ages in different ways and 250 Australians are diagnosed with a form of dementia each day. Today I was joined by Penny Pratt MP, Shadow Minister for Aging, and Dr Anna Finizio, at a seniors forum in Norwood where representatives from Dementia Australia provided information about dementia and how we can better support those who live with it. The hall was packed with people who braved the heat to attend today’s event, hosted by the The Salvation Army South Australia, and it was also a great opportunity to engage with the local seniors community and hear about the issues that matter to them.
