River Rescue Plan

Communities along the River Murray are about to experience some significant challenges as waterflows rise. I’ve spent the past two days visiting towns along the river to hear directly from those affected. The Malinauskas Labor Government need to implement a River Rescue Plan as a matter of urgency. Our four-point plan is strongly centred on mitigation first, then recovery. It includes:

• A Flood and Mitigation Response Coordinator
• A comprehensive evacuation and emergency accommodation plan
• A focussed effort on energy reliability including sourcing generators for community use if required
• A targeted post-flood “Return to the Riverland” tourism package.
