Prescribed burning funding cut

Prescribed burning, also sometimes referred to as ecological burning, in South Australia is an important part of bushfire preparedness.

As Environment Minister, I oversaw a record investment in fire hazard reduction knowing this was vital to protect lives and properties.

Disappointingly and in stark contrast the Labor Government cut $1 million in funding for this program leaving homeowners in parts of our state at greater risk. I’m urging them to restore funding so that this important program can be reinstated for future summers.
