Happy Australia Day

Happy Australia Day! I hope you've all been able to have a special day.

Australia Day is an important day, and one where we can celebrate many of the things that are great about our wonderful country.

This morning I attended the City of Holdfast Bay citizenship ceremony along with Stephen Patterson MP and others to welcome new Australians into our community as well as see the announcement of the local Australia Day awards.

Today is also a day of personal significance to me, as I became an Australian citizen at the same spot in Glenelg in 2008.

The fact that I as an immigrant I'm able to serve South Australians as the Leader of the Opposition goes to prove that our nation is a land of opportunity where anyone can make it.

This is a great state and a great country, let's keep it that way.
