WATCH: This afternoon the Premier is sitting down with anti-domestic violence advocates, experts and agencies who have long been calling for a Royal Commission into South Australia’s escalating family and domestic violence crisis.
I urge Peter Malinauskas to heed the call of these advocates so that South Australian women can feel safe in their own homes. Between an 11 percent increase in family and domestic violence related offences over the past year and the recent spate of South Australian women killed allegedly by men known to them, enough is enough and action needs to be taken.
If Labor won’t establish a Royal Commission, we’ll do it if elected in 2026. However South Australians should not have to wait that long. Many more women will lose their lives before then if immediate action is not taken.
