Great news for our environment! A wildlife haven will be established on Flinders Island off the coast of Elliston on the Eyre Peninsula.
Fast facts:
Protecting around 3,400 hectares of land (about the size of 6,000 football fields!)
Enabling the protection of existing birdlife
Allowing for the introduction of endangered mammal species - including 2 types of bandicoot!
Eradicating invasive species
Developing a nature-based tourism destination.
This is thanks to joint funding from the state and federal governments and is excellent news for our environment. I’ll keep you updated as plans progress!
